10-minute nowcasting now covers the U.S., Africa and the Middle East

pvnode now recomputes PV forecasts every 10 minutes from live satellite data in the U.S., Africa and the Middle East, not only in Europe.

10-minute nowcasting now covers the U.S., Africa and the Middle East

Until now, our 10-minute nowcast covered Europe. Africa got a satellite update every 15 minutes, and everywhere else the forecast updated less often. Starting today, sites in the U.S., Africa and the Middle East get the same 10-minute nowcast as Europe.

TL;DR

  • New 10-minute area: The U.S., Africa and the Middle East, plus parts of Canada and Mexico.
  • Africa moves from 15 to 10 minutes.
  • No API changes. Sites in the new area get the faster updates automatically on a plan with 144 updates per day, like Plus.

Where exactly

The map shows coverage per country. Light green means at least 85 % of the country lies inside the 10-minute area, dark green means between 15 and 85 %. Sites outside the area keep the regular forecast, which updates less often. We plan to extend the 10-minute nowcast to more regions soon.

What you need to do

Nothing. It's the same endpoint and the same fields:

curl "https://api.pvnode.com/v2/forecast/{site_id}" \
     -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"

If your site is inside the area and your plan has 144 updates per day (Plus), the forecast now draws on a new satellite image every 10 minutes. Your client keeps working as before, and next_poll_at in the response still tells it when to ask again.

Try it

Create a site in the dashboard and open its forecast. The forecasting page explains how the nowcast works, and the API docs cover next_poll_at and the response fields. All plans are on the pricing page.

If you want to know whether a specific location is covered, send us its coordinates through the feedback button in the dashboard.
